I think this is officially my favorite SETI-fiction story. It’s called “They’re Made Out Of Meat” from “Bears Discover Fire and Other Stories” by Terry Bisson.

That’s one of the best sci-fi stories I’ve ever read. F…king brilliant!
yes, a very good story! sent it on to my son who is the biggest sci-fi buff i know! tyvm.
It is such a good story that I was drooling when I was given a copy of the book, “Bears Discover Fire and Other Stories”. Unfortunately, Terry Bisson appears to be a one-hit wonder. None of his other stories come close to the brilliance of “They’re Made Out Of Meat”.
