PSP ebooks

Pspebook3Vg
We’ve covered a few ways to make ebooks for Playstation portables (PSP) and now there are some sites popping up that offer books for download specifically formatted for your PSP screen. Unfortunately it some of these aren’t public domain. I really think there’s a market for ebooks on UMD and memorysticks, provided there were some somftware intelligence for font sizing, bookmarking and perhaps audio versions as well. Why not sell gamer guides for the PSP… Link.

For Mac, I’ve written an open source app called “PDF 2 PSP” which, due to the Mac’s built-in PDF support can work with any application that supports printing. Check it out at pdf2psp. It supports Panther and Tiger and I even demo’ed it on one of the MacIntel transition machines at WWDC.

Another good app for the Mac is PSPBook. PSPBook converts plain text files to PSP ebook format. This is ideal for converting project gutenberg files.

If you haven’t encountered Gutenberg, you should – over 16,000 texts all free of copyright entanglements. This includes works by Sir A.C. Doyle, James Joyce, Shakespeare, H. G. Well, Sun Tzu and many, many others.

psp.manybooks.net has the entire Project Gutenberg collection (11,000 books) available for download or online reading on your PSP.
