“Security researcher Michael Lynn has settled a dispute with Cisco over his presentation on hacking the company’s routers, which was given at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas this week. The two parties and Black Hat organisers have agreed not to further discuss the presentation, which contained techniques Lynn said could bring the Internet to its knees.” [via] [BoingBoing round up] Link.

One Response to @ DEFCON- Flaw researcher settles dispute with Cisco

  1. I saw Lynn’s talk. It was very interesting, but didn’t give any specific code. He did do a live demontration where he was able to remotely exploit a 2600 series router and get it to launch a connect back shell to his machine with full enable privileges. FX of phenoelit gave several much more explicit talks including code and never got sued. Several people around me in the audience were taking pictures of all the slides with their phones. Somebody post if you find a link to the slides.
