HOW TO – Make shot glasses out of ice…

IceshotsRay and Cape write “We thought it’d be sweet to make shot glasses out of ice. There are some bars in Europe and Australia which are made completely out of ice and kept below freezing, we didn’t go that far but these are pretty cool (no pun intended), check it out. We used Dixie cups. They come in several different sizes. You will need two different sizes, we used 9 oz and 3 oz cups…” Link.

you can do the same thing with a lot less work by buying some specially made freezer trays here:

Seems to me that screaminscott (above) may not get the point of MAKE. While one could buy the pre-made freezer trays for $24.95 (=$18.95 plus $6.00 S&H) it doesn’t seem to me like it is much work to create your own using dixie cups as suggested. And it would clearly be significantly cheaper…and there’s no wait for the shipment.

Ray and Cape wrote that although gatorade makes colorful shot glasses, it does not freeze well. I imagine that the simplest thing would be to just use food coloring in water instead. While I haven’t tested it with shot glasses, I have added food coloring to white grape juice and lemonade to make freezer pops for my daughter. It works great.

  3. I thought making ice shotties with food colouring in them would be awesome for my birthday party this coming Friday. Good thing I tested this out before the night, because although the shotglasses look beautiful when you add food colouring – the food colouring runs all over your hands when you pick it up and STAINS LIKE A MOFO. Just thought you should know.
