does anyone else have a problem ordering from the website?

  2. This project is still under way….. I want to figure out a way to spin the light, but i don’t know much about motors. I’d like to be able to spin it at speeds of about 30 to 120 RPM. A small DC motor would work, I think. You can change the speed of a DC motor by varying the voltage, correct? Then I could use an AC adaptor with variable output to power it. I also want eventually to add a sequencer, so that sometimes only the left-spiraling wires are lit or vice versa. Mark Lakata designed a very nice programmable sequencer for bigger EL wire projects (see http://www.lakata.org/qromodyn/FunkyEL/) although it seems like it might be too big to ride onboard my light. Also, this sequencer switches only low voltage, so I’d need six inverters instead of just one.

The other problem is powering the EL wire. the 9v batteries work fine, but of course they have to be replaced every few hours of operation. I would really like to find some kind of slip ring connector to deliver low-voltage DC to the rotating part of the light. Any suggestions?
