I have a shotgun shell vase, but this chair blows it away – “…over 450 .12 gauge shotgun shells, the brass tips create a massaging texture on the top of the chair, much contrary of their intended use.” [via] Link.

this is the coolest thing i’ve seen all day. for sitting, or no?
this is the coolest thing in the world.

this would be even cooler if the shells were already used. collecting spent shotgun shells would be a challenge, though.
I’m going to the old shooting range with a rake in spring to collect some spent casings, this is a neat idea.
I know some gun collectors, maybe i’ll make a display rack out of shells.
I wonder if Dick Cheney would want to give this as a get well gift?
Sorry, couldn’t resist – there’s got to be a funny joke in here somewhere.

awwww.. they are empty! its much more frightening if they were all loaded.. (yes i know how very hard it is to accidentally set off a primer.. but still.. i could imagine being a little twitchy flopping down in the Chair of Damocles
As someone who shoots and makes art in NYC (and I know I am not the only one), I need to clarify:
The number “12″ is not a caliber but a gauge which, in it’s antiquated denotation, is the number of spheres that make up a pound of lead that fit a certain diameter barrel. Change that “.12″ to a “12.” There are a lot of examples of 12-gauge art/furniture/etc. Personally, I like the 12-gauge Winchester shot glasses.
