Philip writes – “Tslots are an aluminum extrusion building material that fits together with simple allen wrench hardware. It’s all the rage with industrial/conveyer belt building, and it’s lighter and stonger than welded metal. They’ve won some awards, and are getting a name out there. I’m using it to build a camping roof rack for my 63′ vw bus.”Link.

80/20 is exactly like this but better. This is just an 80/20 ripoff. http://www.8020.net/

It also has Cad drawings, cutting services and there are grooves in the side of the part to make it easier to align the parts. They also do not have that annoying sound on their sidebar.

BTW, I disovered 8020 has an Ebay store, suitable for small quantities: http://stores.ebay.com/8020-Inc-Garage-Sale

Yes 80/20 is exactly like this, however, the statement that it is better is pure opinion. The grooves in 80/20 are quite bothersome and the smooth sides of T-Slots make my projects look better. I line everything up just fine without ugly grooves. (By the way, “80/20 ripoff”, is funny cause I think these were invented in Europe!)

I was fortunate enough to be in the start up of the 80/20 eBay store, http://stores.ebay.com/8020-Inc-Garage-Sale. There’s a great deal of good product cheap due in large part to 80/20 Inc’s high standards for acceptable material. It’s a good, inexpensive place to start to see if T-slot is for you. Be patient and check out the auctions, especially metric material.
