Sounds like a great application for a cow magnet. For those outside of Wisconsin, a cow magnet looks like a big pill up to three inches long and about half an inch in diameter. They are fed to cows and stay in their stomachs. (I’m simplifying here. For those outside of Wisconsin, a cow has four stonmachs.) The magnet collects any bits of old staples, wire, nails, etc. that the cow might eat.

Cow magnets come in ceramic, stainless, and epoxy coatings. If they can stand up to being in a cow’s stomach they will likely work as a stirrer in anything.

You do realize the rotary evaporator was a joke, don’t you?

There was a similar piece in Zymurgy a few months ago about building one of these using parts mostly salvaged from computers. A good read, and I’m making one of these for my own home brewery, because building one for $0 using parts from old computers and other busted electronics is cheaper than paying $75 for a new one. :-/
