MAKE Flickr photo pool member Greg-o-ree made a pretty nice looking LCD photo frame from an old laptop, he writes – “I take so many pictures, it would cost a small fortune to print them all, let alone have enough wall space to hang them. So what I have done is to convert an old Laptop into a digital picture frame that randomly shows choice pictures from my collection. I will probably build a couple of these little guys, one to take with me for Wedding shoots so I can have something to immediately show how their pictures will look framed.” – Link.

great project!
After reading this post and many others on the net, I did a laptop-to digital-picture-frame project using my wifes broken Vaio Laptop. I first repaired her laptop and then I converted it into a frame. It’s based on XP since it already had XP installed. Uses Slickr and wifi so that updating photos is done entirely on the internet. Fun project and didn’t cost me much.
How I Converted Laptop into Digital Picture Frame
Great look, well done. I was considering making one for my cousins wedding which is coming up at the end of this month… but without any old laptops lying around, I was also looking at taking the soft option, i.e. just buying one…
Currently looking at this model…
Kaiser Baas 10 Inch Digital Photo Frame
only 640×480 resolution though – I think a laptop screen resolution would be far superior to this.
It’s beautiful…….!
