Wombat7 used a strainer to increase his Wi-Fi signal, he writes – “i did not have immediate access to “Chinese parabolic cookware” however i will use one next time. instead, i used an eight inch strainer , without the strainer i do not get a signal in my house. this entire instructable has been uploaded via the strainer/usb antenna.” – Link.

I made one of these antennas recently, with one modification.
I used a 3/4″ NM/SEU electrical fitting and a 1″ to 3/4″ reducing washer as a fender washer to give me a bracket to hold the female connector from my USB A to A extension cable.
This will let me upgrade the WiFi dongle at some point in the future, and allows me to adjust the WIFi dongle vertically in the strainer so that I can place the antenna in the dongle as close as possible to the focus of the reflector.
