It had an odd looking bulb that was burnt out, plus I wasn’t about to shell out $5 for the missing battery (it uses one of those square lantern ones). So I converted the bulb into two LEDs and hooked up a 9v battery. The extra space can be used for storage or whatever. “ [via] – Link.

Use the extra space to run it off D batteries or at least AA’s. 9V are the most expensive per watt/hour, and the only reason to get them is when you don’t have space for bigger ones.
