Here’s how to make DC Bicycle pedal power generators from the folks as Science Shareware -
Here you can learn to create your own green power electricity using a pedal power bicycle generator. We setup the 24 bicycle power generators at the 2007 Coachella Music and Arts Festival, 60,000 people a day for 3 days in the desert – Indio California. The bike generators were used for charging cell phones.

I did something like this at the SCA’s Pennsic war to keep the car battery that runs our camp shower charged. Rather than pull the resistance wheel off the trainer (A CycleOps magnetic) and the tire off the bike I just removed the steel plate the magnets interact with and ran the V belt on the flat pully (which was, aparently all the rage in the 30′s and 40′s – I got the idea off my old Logan lathe).
It kept us in 12 volts (and blender drinks) all week.
I really like the idea. I take studio cycling classes at gym. About 30 people are pedaling very hard for one hour.
Why this idea cannot be commercialize? Everyone will benefit.
Thanks
