Esch is definately the coolest place in Berlin, but I had no idea it was such a hacker hangout. I just associated it with the street art scene given the heavily stickered alleyway to it. Well, the Esch was for example the place where tims famous Bibelstunde took place: http://berlin.ccc.de/~tim/bibelstunde/ However, I would add two more bars to the "friends and family", the Bar23 and the Fette Ecke.

Oh please come on, nobody in Berlin calls the “Eschschloraque” just “Esch”. It may be presented to you as “Esch” but only regarding to the lack of most people from the U.S. to speak only English or being outside the U.S. for the first time in their whole life

And the “c-base” is not written “C-Base” because that’s the language of the bio lifeforms called humans. Instead the Aliens called the ship “c-base” ))

And finally I want to add some more hacker spaces: Ask for other meeting points of the Freifunk.net – community than the c-base. Sometimes you can see some hackers at “Sankt Oberholz” (shortly: “St. Oberholz”) too, but not very often. That space is more frequented by what the mass media call “Digital BohÃ¨me” or “Urbane Pernner” (roughly translated from German as “urban bummer” or “urban dosser”). Google for Mercedes Bunz and in her weblog you find the German Article that created the discussion about urban living ond working style…
