Hmmm. Beer and garage-built jet engines. Is it just me or does this look like an accident waiting to happen? That is one angry motor.
BTW: There are dozens of similar engines on YouTube. Search on “homemade jet engines.” Few of them look quite this… dramatic.

that looks really really fun!
wow, all that metal was approaching white-hot heat… surprising nothing tore itself apart.
Nice show, it’s just too bad with all that flame coming out the back it’s not producing any additional thrust. The flame is fuel that is unburned during combustion. Nice show, no go.
Well not as much as there could be.
ya that’s my complaint too. I would love to have a turbine but without any serious horsepower, I’ll spend my time and energy on something else.
sounds cool though…
Not all jet engines/turbines are designed for thrust. An application similar to this (but running efficiantly could produce torque use for electric generation. Jet boats commonly use this technique to provide torque to the props without creating forward thrust from the jet. These jets are normaly taken from old military helicopters wich did the same thing, provide power to the prop without producing forward thrust.
