This poor bastard couldn’t even afford seven bucks for a cheesy pair of DMM test probes, so he replaced his missing red one with a homemade jobbie made from little more than a 6-penny nail, a pen barrel, and some heat shrink. Should we take up a collection? I probably have that much change in the cracks of my sofa.

  1. This isn’t that bad. I’d probably do it more out of convenience than need, but in reality this is the same stuff as a real DMM probe.

  2. I don’t know if you have noticed yet, but a lot of your previous posts are being posted twice. Just thought I’d let you know! Oh, do you have any pictures of the workbench in the DailyDIY logo? I’d love to see more.

    thanks,

  3. Oh, sorry, I thought this was for commenting on DailyDIY. Sorry about that!

  4. Looks like a good job of improvising to me. It might well have been done because going to the store was not practical, like I live 45 minutes away, and the only store in town that would sell them has limited business hours.

Also, remember, for some people 7 dollars is more than they make in an hour. When I lived in the Dominican Republic it was more than some people made in a day, and I saw a lot of that sort of improvisation there… most broken electronics down there were repaired or used for parts.
