Heard about Make Mag on Adam Curry’s DSC and agreed that we haven’t heard enough from Mr. Torrone recently. Great to hear you on my iPod again, any chance of hearing Lenn’s voice again?

The Audible.com/rss feed for Technology is not appearing with the rest of their feeds. I tried adding the word “Technology” to the end of the URL and that didn’t work. Great show!

Leaders of the Fairfax Public Libraries think it’s a good idea to distribute downloadable audio books to the public in Windows Media format. Regrettably these digital rights managed (DRM) files have been ‘locked out’, such that they won’t download to Macintosh computers, Linux computers or iPods, which — given the popularity of the iPod — effectively excludes a large proportion of potential users. A friend of mine, Hal Cauthen, in the Washington Apple Pi computer club, decided not to just to acquiesce to this odd form of exclusion; he sent me an email last Wednesday night asking me to compose a song that would help this library system better understand the way their actions are discriminatory. Hal is one of the most decent and generous persons around. He hardly ever spoils for a fight. When he asked me to compose a song, I knew I had to jump in and help. Hal has gone out of his way to be helpful to me (and others) in the past few years.
