Mr. Tan of Songyuan city, China has built a 3ft high working cell phone that weighs 481 pounds and is an exact replica of his existing phone, but about 620 times bigger. The phone makes regular calls and can send SMS just like its normal size counterpart. The only problem is, that’s right, it’s not portable because it weighs too much and Tan can’t build a battery big enough to power this bohemoth, so as you can see by the photo, it has an AC plug. Another thing about this phone was that Tan couldn’t incorporate a vibrate function into the device, although if he could it might be a replacement for “Magic Fingers” in your hotel room.

when i saw “481″ pounds, my jaw dropped. what the hell could be in there that weighed so much?
naw, its a typo. 48 pounds. that seems slightly more reasonable, though i don’t know why.
i guess for that weight it must be made of dense wood?
Have any of you seen “Trigger Happy TV” – a guy called Dom Jolly walks into movie theatres and then pulls out a 5 foot high nokia phone after you hear a hugely amplified nokia ring tone.
