Sebastian Tomczak has been playing around with controlling VGA output from an Arduino. Using Max/MSP to process audio and send data to the Arduino and a standard VGA output to send sync data to the monitor, he’s been able to put together some cool video effects. You can grab the Max patch and Arduino code from Sebastian’s post. I dig the effect – it reminds me of the cool C64 demos kids used to make.

C4 demos kids used to make…
You mean the explosive? Or did you mean C64?
C64 demos, meaning Commodore 64 demos. To this day people create music using Commodore 64′s, old Nintendos, Game Boys, or any other old computer systems. What they then used to do was then create graphics to go along with the music and then “demo” them.
For an example of the type of music that I’m talking about, check out slayradio.com
