This detailed mod shows you how to make a time machine out of an old delorean, just like the doc did in the 1980s movie, “Back to the Future”. I was a big fan of that movie when it came out, although getting your hands on a 1980s Delorean might be kind of tricky these days. Unfortunately, this isn’t the version that runs on banana peels.

DeLorean engines are a mishmosh – if you buy one, have the owner explain which oil filter to use (as I remember, there are three?) distinct possibilities. I’m sure that there is a way to chart this up using the VIN number, but you’d have to ask Google on that one.
Also, tip your mechanic heavily, as working on this car is a hateful experience in frustration.

re “getting your hands on a 1980s Delorean might be kind of tricky these days”: it shouldn’t be terribly tricky. a houston tx company bought the delorean company’s stock of parts, and can refurbish one, or even build one new.

they are on the expensive side though. base price on a new built one is $57,500, and the refurbs are from $25K to $40K.
Please stop ruining DeLoreans… Please. It’s just such a waste. Wow, you can have your very own non-functional time machine prop; well done… Just like the hundreds of other near-identical time machine DeLorean replicas.
Obviously it’s up to you what you do with your car, but keep in mind that even though they’re back sort-of in production they’re still rare, and sticking tacky stuff all over them to look like the Doc’s car has already been done to death.
Please at least consider doing something interesting and unique instead if you must modify one of these.
If you want a Back To The Future time machine I’m sure there are a few project DeLoreans out there with most of the work done for you already, so you don’t have to do this to an otherwise unmolested car.
I’ve got to agree with the last poster, I loved the movies, but I to see a classic like the Delorean mutilated to look like a movie prop.
