This hefty clock uses classic bells and binary display – and it knows where you are!
The case measures about 15×13×8 centimeters. The bells which I happened to have lying around are from a very old telephone and were the remains of my very first electronics project (which was about seven years ago). The most remarkable feature of this alarm clock is the fact that it uses a microswitch mounted in my door to detect if I left my room. It can only be disabled when the door is open.
This thing could probably intimidate you to wakefulness – Ultimate Alarm Clock [via Hacked Gadgets]

The link to the fellow’s site works, but his own link that would show the original telephone is broken. He says (rightly so) that no one else will likely want to follow his (lack of) design, as he made it up as he went along.
We don’t even get to see his schematic of how he generated the =>85 volts ac or pulse DC at about 20 Hz to ring the bell. Or if he hits the bell at some other frequency.
This is scarcely worth the space to put on the blog IMO. Wish it were actually documented from a hardware perspective.
Very often I wish there was more documentation for projects we highlight – still I found the aesthetic and ideas in this one inspiring.
