Here’s an interesting design for container-like prefab housing. I’m not sure why the designers have chosen to go with a custom container-like module vs. shipping containers (of which the west has a huge surplus), but this is still a neat, actually-commercially-available, somewhat-more-sustainable housing solution.

I’d like to see these sort of designs evaluated for their structural integrity because my understanding is that shipping containers are not that strong once you compromise their “skin as frame” type design.
That hallway looks like total wasted space – 10% by my guess!
Putting the bathrooms to the right of the bedroom would just make a wider hallway and take room away from the dining room, so that doesn’t help much. If they could move the door to the top side, and then put the shower where the door used to be (top right corner), then you’d get more space. Maybe you can even put in a kitchen nook on the corner where the shower used to be.
One problem I’ve heard regarding the use of, actual, shipping containers is that the marine paints they are coated with are highly toxic. I don’t know how true it is, but definitely something to concider and look into before you work closely with it and build something you plan on living in.
