Well, it’s a little old, a bit clunky, and I’m close to running out of memory (but honestly, how many times do I listen to all thirty-four covers of Hallelujah); but my biggest problem is that I just need to change the battery. I’m fairly new to electronics. Anyone have any suggestions?

I assume it is an iPod or other music player. In this case, Google is your friend. Try “iPod replacement battery” for your search. It is a little tricky, requiring either a specialized pry tool or a sacrificial credit card (bet everyone has one of those nowadays!) to open the case, but once it is open, it is pretty straightforward. See other sites on the Web for more detailed instructions.

I think it was an article posted here that ended my habit of the sacrificial cards… I started using plastic guitar picks. They’re cheap, durable, thin, and have a nice pointy tip to wedge between to pieces of molded plastic. And the guitar pick will usually scratch/mar before whatever case you’re trying to pry open will.
