I’m really digging the collection of user-submitted articles on primitive technology over at PrimitiveWays. So far, one of my favorites is this article, by one Dino Labiste, about how to treat the natural pith in a deer antler to make an adhesive bed for a stub-tang blade.

You just have to wander the woods at the right time of year. Deer shed their antlers every year (around the beginning of Spring, I think). It amazes me just how much growth goes into those things in such a short time.
Actually, if you find a buck at the right time you just may be able to yank them off. This is a very bad idea, because it will piss him off something fierce and he will crush your head with his hooves in response.
What a misleading headline. I though we were going to learn about how to arm deer with knives.
