We’ve seen plenty of creative USB flash drive rehousings in the past, but the above vid from NetbookNews gives a peek into the original manufacturing process for the popular device. Hmm – would be kind of neat if the drives were also available caseless. [Thanks, Sascha!]

    Technical jargon doesn’t translate well. I can’t help but cringe at the description of the pick and place machine.

    Reminds me of the time I did some job shadowing at the local TRW while I was still in high school. They made Honda airbag computers and sensors and Ford F-150 anti-lock brake actuators. You can’t tell from the video but those manufacturing lines can be quite noisy. It’s like standing next to a lawnmower all day. Still, it’s a whole lot of fun seeing a blank PC board and a handful of components get turned into a finished product.
