Flamingo of doom.jpg

This phototutorial from central Florida is actually called “Flamingos with frickin laser beams,” which was a pretty hard title to resist. However, it looks to me like there are, in fact, only LEDs involved here, and Make: Online readers are sensitive to such distinctions. [Thanks, Shawn!]

  1. You say only LEDs, but I was on digikey last night looking for tiny LEDs, and in the process of reading through various datasheets, found that some of the very efficient small SMD LEDs are, in fact, tiny diffused lasers.

  2. I put some red LEDs for eyes on a pink flamingo in the past and just hooked it up to the landscape lighting’s 12v cable.

That alone was enough to make people notice it. The skeleton look is the icing on the cake however ;)

Hhaha great idea! We’ll have to try that for next years Halloween;) Would love to have a couple of skeleton flamingos hiding in the plants..
