There was a lack of resistors in this project.

This “project” lacks a LOT of things. Including video editing which is the ONLY thing “kipkay” has ever been useful for. Er, that and spreading misinformation. Take a listen at 3:57, he pronounces resin as “wesin”. Not normally a huge deal but this is meant to be professional as he is depositing his Make magazine checks…

    Bre > kip.

I’m not sure of the point of this entry…
Cool, but they can’t keep your drink cold.

    Cheers, Dusty Poncho.

@ Anonymous – It’s apparent that you dislike me but to accuse me of mispronouncing a word you clearly misheard is only faulting your own ability to listen. It appears that spreading misinformation is exactly what you have done. Merry Christmas!

You’re are great kipkay No matter what the other people say.

As I said in my previous Reply. Only 1 doubt about the video. “”the coin cell or battery how many volts have?
and the leds that you use what kind of led are?””
      ¿Would you tell me?

Greetings from where i live XD.

  5. Tod E. Kurt says:

Regarding lack of resistors: you don’t need resistors with LEDs powered by coin cells, the internal series resistance of cells is high enough.

However, driving so many LEDs from a single coin cell will likely drain it pretty quickly.

I like this idea, but I have to agree it won’t keep the drink cold. What would be nice is if a small battery holder was enclosed in the bottom or top of the cube so each cube is a closed circuit (and would need to be water tight). Then you could mix real ice cubes in with the LED ones.

Sounds like something I’m going to have to tweak with at home, thanks for the inspiration!

Hi there I was wondering what resin and hardener you used and where I could find it, I’m
having a hard time finding it, partly because I don’t know what I’m looking for, what is this
stuff used for when not casting LED ice cubes? Thanks any help
    will be greatly appreciated!!!

  8. KipKay says:

@Jorge – It’s hobby casting resin and hardener used for a variety of crafty projects. The resin I used is made by Easy Cast. I bought mine online. You can search for it. Have fun!

  9. Juanchota Corta says:

Kip kay im a big fan of your blog and all your video projects, but in this video, about the matterials:
The battery: how many volts have? ( i know
and the leds: What kind of LED you use? or Can be any led?

i’ll be grateful to receive a reply. Thank’s Kipkay

    See ya.

  10. Benito Camela says:

    I’m agree with @Juanchota Corta.
I tried with 6 Red leds but they dont turn on. ( in the video there’re 6 leds ice cubes right?)
Please Mr. Kip kay the battery ( or coin cell ? how many volts are?
