An antenna is designed for the frequency of the signal being received. The antenna couldn’t care less if the signal is transmitting analog or digital data. Pushing this farce as a best DIY project just lends more credence to the hucksters selling the “special” antennas for the new digital signals.
As Makers we’re supposed to be about researching, learning, and investigating for ourselves. Part of this means being willing to challenge bogus marketing claims. Perhaps a better Maker’s project would be to purchase a super-duper-extra-hi-tech “digital” signal TV antenna and compare the actual signal strength received to a high quality “analog” antenna.
Please don’t misunderstand. I think a Make article about building a quality TV antenna is a good idea. But please, don’t call it a “digital” antenna.
