I can think of a million things I’m going to log with this…
Data Logger for iPhone enables you to store and graph any data of your choosing along with a timestamp and geolocation. You might use Data Logger to store electricity meter readings, to create maps of pollution or temperature sensor readings around your neighbourhood, or animal sightings around the city. You can also set up custom data feeds, with user-defined min and max values, tags, description and units.

What does this iPhone app log? It doesn’t appear that it has any external interface for devices, so I don’t think there are a “million” things to log with it. I assume it logs GPS, compass, etc. Does it log sounds? Video? Photos? I couldn’t tell in my cursory look at the website that mainly points to the app store.
I have the same question. After a few minutes of web searching and scrutinizing the UI screenshots. I think it’s basically an app to gather readings taken by hand. E.g. you can go around the city and enter temperature readings. It’s kind of nice because all the data you put in by hand can be instantly uploaded, meta tagged, linked, blah, blah. And you can make nice logging screens.
My knee-jerk assumption was “wow that’s great. They’re logging data off the microphone input. All you have to do it provide some scaling info and tag what it is and you’re good to go.” After thinking about it for a sec that would be harder than it looks for a lot of stuff and some risk of frying the phone. But still a good idea. Could someone please make that app? If not I’ll get around to it eventually…
It’s for logging data to Pachube http://www.pachube.com. Kind of makes sense, to create geolocated and timestamped data points of arbitrary data types. That’s what Pachube is all about, since you provided the sensors, they provide the storage and server for those sensors.
can you list some of the million things you might want to track… i need some ideas. i;m not really into temperature. I think its cool, but its actually been harder for me to think of things.
