And you thought stamp collecting was geeky! I love this idea. These are cheap coin-collecting albums. What a fabulous teaching aid and way of organizing components so that students of electronics can see the parts families, different varieties of components, different package types, etc. The background labels are even color-coded so that component types are easy to see at a glance (blue=ICs, tan=diodes, green=crystals, etc.).

I keep all of my small/thin components in a 3-ring binder sorted by type and value. If I need a specific transistor, resistor, capacitor, etc I can find it in seconds, and if I need more space I can easily add more pages.
One difference is that I use a sheet of anti-static foam for the IC’s. It keeps them safe and you don’t have to worry about the pins bending. Just cut it to size and punch 3 holes in it.
And you can add folders to keep data sheets right there with the components.
… is as a footprint reference for PCB layout. If you were to add a page/row/column index you could even link it to your own custom Eagle component library.
Such a clever idea! We need one of these in the Make: Labs!
