Make: Online reader Richard Kline (Dayton, OH) wrote in to remind us of this excellent ham radio convention:

I thought I would send a heads-up in case nobody else had about Hamvention 2010, a huge electronics and ham radio convention in Dayton Ohio, which takes place in about two weeks (May 14, 15, and 16th).

Hamvention usually has attendance of about 20,000 people and is loads of fun for anyone who is interested in electronics or ham radio… there is an outdoor electronics flea market with thousands of vendors selling all variety of electronic tools and components and a myriad more ham-radio vendors indoors showing off their latest and greatest stuff. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door and are good for all three days. Outdoor flea market vendor spaces costs between $70 and $100 depending on location.

More info here.

Are any of our readers attending? Our very own Diana Eng will be there!

It looked like attendance rang the 20,000 bell this year – I walked every foot of the 20-acre (est) flea-market and saw some truly amazing stuff out there! (My feet were not all that impressed…) Inside the five exhibition halls, it was wall-to-wall Radio Goodness. Everything from parts to the newest SDR equipment to antiques to organizations to science projects. It could be twice as many days and I’d still be roaming the aisles trying to see it all. If you want to take a core-sample of ham radio, this would be a good place to do it. 73, Ward N0AX
