I’ll bet the contractors who had to tear down the Rocky Flats, atomic bomb factory wished they had an army of these. I wonder if they’re using them at Hanford. You could put cameras on them and send them into hazardous environments without the guilt of all your workers dieing slow, painful deaths in their later years.

I’ve seen remote controlled Bobcats used in dangerous territory to dig with. The Polish used them. I’d guess that the Military has some better homegrown tech for remotely dealing with IEDs and UXO than modified bobcats, but i haven’t seen it in person yet.

Not sure how old the RC Bobcat is, but it’s been around. The earliest youtube video i could find was from 2007 but i saw one in action in 2005. Here’s a good one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPB5G12RssA

  3. This is a pretty good machine although we tend to used Brokk gear to do nuclear decommissioning….and have done for a few years now. great gear whoever they come from and versatile. we’re putting one upside down on a hydraulically driven telescopic mast to do some very hard decommissioning work here in the UK.

    Toys for boys!!
