Why do open source hardware people seem to make such a big deal about others "stealing" their designs? If you're not prepared for other people to have full freedom with your design, is it really an open license?

What if everyone writing open source software said, "my worst fear is that someone runs this on servers around the world and (gasp!) makes money off of my design!"

I've been doing "open source hardware" since prior to 2003. The reason I publish my designs is because I WANT other people to build my stuff, and make it better, and do more awesome stuff, so that I can do more awesome stuff too.
