Aw, someone’s simply filed a notch on an old homemade caliper. The cost of the things these days, you could do it for virtually nothing.
This appears to be a PACE Conform 1 tool

They are quite expensive, hard to find, and I’ve never found a cheap knock-off version; but they are a joy to use.
Harbor Freight USA has $2, six inch, plastic calipers ( http://www.harborfreight.com/6-inch-utility-caliper-7914.html ) and $10 twenty-four inch, aluminum calipers ( http://www.harborfreight.com/24-inch-jumbo-aluminum-caliper-96509.html ). Should be easy enough to modify those to get something that works like the above tool. I just can’t come up with a good enough idea. What do you guys think?
