I recently took an Arduino class from the guys from Sector67, a new(ish) hacker space in Madison, WI. We used the Arduino Uno, it was great, took an hour to learn, and now I'm hooked.

Yesterday I even intervied these guys about the classes they teach (including the Arduino 101 and 102 classes).
It was a riot, and I hope some of your readers in the Wisconsin area will drop in for a class. If anyone's interested, I hope you'll check out my ~25 minute conversation at inscight.org. Specifically, the most recent episode 14, from yesterday (http://inscight.org/2011/05/24/episode-14-accessible-science-with-hacker-space/).
