Normally, ultra slow motion video requires very expensive cameras and lots of light. Using an unconventional method reminiscent of Eadweard Muybridge’s Sallie Gardner at a Gallop, Destin from Smarter Every Day caught slow motion video of a bullet coming out of a gun. Since that particular fast action is easily repeatable, he was able to fire multiple rounds and catch the bullet at different distances from the gun. Destin achieved this by rigging up a piezoelectric transducer to an advanced pulse generator, which triggers the flash at different delays after the sound of the gunfire is sensed. After arranging each frame, the result is ultra slow motion video with a stop motion quality to it.
