  1. These are highly common in the SCA and “ren” crowd.   some very elaborate designs are out there.

    Side effect of a wooden beer mug,  beer stays cold.  Wood is a great insulator.   Also if you find a food grade urethane to coat it in, you end up with a easy to clean wood beer mug.
