Gareth Branwyn is a freelancer writer and the former Editorial Director of Maker Media. He is the author or editor of a dozen books on technology, DIY, and geek culture, including the first book about the web (Mosaic Quick Tour) and the Absolute Beginner's Guide to Building Robots. He is currently working on a best-of collection of his writing, called Borg Like Me.

My wife and I have tried taking pictures like this and the moon always shows up as very, very small. Guess we have to learn about f-stops and exposure settings and the like, huh?
These pictures are very nice. I am extremely jealous.
A longer focal length will make the moon appear larger in comparison to whatever is in the foreground, this is due to perspective compression and will work with anything by making them appear closer together.
