Our friends over at iFixit recently tore apart a Motorola Droid Bionic to check out what’s inside. Surprisingly, the new 4.3″ handset was a breeze to strip down, with only eleven screws to get down to the board. After tackling a digitizer replacement on an at&t Inspire, it’s nice to see manufacturers taking the time to design hardware that’s easy to service. This will come in handy when you go to repurpose the device when the next generation comes along.

Here are a few highlights:

• The phone is held together with a limited number of screws and plastic clips. Adhesive is minimally used in its construction.
• The LCD is separable from the glass front panel, making them independently replaceable.
• Hidden beneath the microSD card, the 4G LTE SIM card sits… and waits.
