The Vital Signs Camera App of Philips measures your heart rate and breathing rate remotely, simply using the iPad 2 camera. This breakthrough technology allows you to measure your vital signs in an easy and unobtrusive way. The camera detects the small changes in the color of your face to measure your heart rate with beat-to beat accuracy. Likewise, the camera tracks the movements of your chest to measure your exact breathing rate.
Everything is Kinect’izing.

Why on Earth would you want to share your heart rate and breathing rate on Facebook or Twitter? I don’t post my bowel movements there either, in case anyone was curious.
I like the technology and for heart patients or COPD patients recovering at home it could be very useful for sharing information with a doctor or nurse monitoring you. It’s the public sharing on Facebook or Twitter of HIPAA protected health information that has me confused about this app.
Maybe not you, maybe not me, but someone out there has a big enough imagination to put this to use.
