I’m really digging this handmade embossed iPad 2 smart cover from maker Jim Thorpe. What caught my eye was his faithful recreation of the venerable Audel’s New Electric Library cover painstakingly embossed in leather and hand assembled into a working smart cover using surplus parts liberated from cheap knockoffs. It may not do the fancy folding stand trick, but since it doesn’t have the same fold lines as the original, it won’t leave unsightly linear smudges on the screen, either.

It would have been cooler if they had modified the cover to say “Apple’s Electric Library”
I did, in the planning stage. I didn’t like it. http://flic.kr/p/awKHsK
The letterforms of the P’s in Apple didn’t lend themselves well to curvature, plus I wanted to make a faithful reproduction of the classic book cover.
Hello Jim–Are you still selling these? I see the Etsy store expired, I’d love to get one!
I’m guessing these awesome ipad covers are no longer for sale? I’ve been trying for ages to find where to buy them…
