  1. Seems like a fun thing to do if you have a lot of free time on your hands :) I am usually too busy driving for my Green Limousine company http://www.thinkgreenlimo.com   Pretty crafty idea not the less. Thanks for sharing!

  2. That is one of the best videos explaining Math I have ever seen. Fantastic! Recently a young boy in NY figured out that the branches and leaves of a tree are arranged in Fibonacci spirals. He placed solar cells in that arrangement and got a 50% increase in efficiency compared to a flat panel. Pretty cool  stuff?

    Viheart FTW

  4. The “don’t know what this is” is the seed pod from a magnolia, specifically the big magnolias in the southern U.S.

This is a really fabulous video, Vi. I love how you leave questions for investigators — young or old — to sort out. I have access to the giant pine cones from a longleaf pine; I want to tray coloring and counting the spirals.

Cristóbal Vila’s wonderful artistic video Nature by Numbers is complementary to Vi’s video. He shows a PHI-ray gun!
