    He did a presentation at the Austin Dorkbot meeting, and I was really impressed at his craftsmanship and how well these worked.

    • I did a similar thing, though nowhere near as elegantly or beautifully, about five years ago. I replaced the needle of a gramophone with a 3.5mm audio jack, and fitting the speaker within the soundbox.

      Very simple modification, and it came out looking pretty good. Details are online if anyone’s interested in replicating it:
