DeviantArtist “Joker-laugh” built this amazing AVM chess set which has recently been wowing its way through the geek blogosphere. He doesn’t say much about the making of the pieces, but on the creation of the board itself, he writes:

The board itself measures 25 x 25 inch which makes it quite big for a chess set. It was made using wood and small tiles for the stone board. I made this to mimic the pyramid temple the Predators use in the AVP film.

Maybe we can get him on here to tell us more about how the set was made.

If I had to guess, I’d say hand-carved masters, casted in resin and amazing paintwork. Any which way, very impressive, and makes me want to go carve something with my new dremel…
