Impressive “side project” from industrial designer Nick Santillan, whose modular Red Blue CNC machine we’ve covered here a couple times before. Nick writes:

Most arcade sticks on the market…all look similar, more often looking like a box with buttons. I decided to make it more elegant that someone with a nice interior living room, a stick that would compliment their furnishings rather than having it look like a video game controller…it’s wireless, rechargeable (USB port for recharging), authentic Japanese arcade hardware (Sanwa), with a bentwood walnut top. This one is prototype #3 and most likely a final model #4 to follow after personal feedback/testing.

[Thanks, Billy Baque!]

  1. That walnut has got to be reinforced somewhere or it’s going to snap off within 5 minutes of typical use.

  2. Haha! That is awesome. It looks so vintage too. Next time I buy a broken Xbox 360 I am going to fix it up and do this to it.
