Out pals at adafruit have just released Circuit Playground, an app for iPhone and iPad that combines a bunch of handy electronics references and calculators in one attractive interface. It’s $2.99 from the AppStore. An Android version is reportedly in the works, but I understand the adafruit folks are not in too much of a hurry to horn in on the good work that Demetrio Iero is already doing with ElectroDroid.

So I can’t help but notice this looks almost exactly like Circuit Sidekick. Was it made by the same people?
Looks like Adafruit has taken over the app. Sidekick was created by Collin Cunningham, who is credited on Circuit Playground.
Thanks!
Hey, I know you. You used to be in a writing group with my lovely wife. (In collage. A LONG time ago… because we’re old.)
That’s me, now I write for Make. Living the dream!
Is this just a branding of Circuit Sidekick or is it meant to replace it? I purchased Circuit Sidekick, and I wonder what the roadmap is between the two.
check out the page and the video, that’s collin!

I use Elektor Electronic Toolbox, which seems to be much more abundant.

Again, Adafruit leans towards the purchasers instead of the innovators. Good business sense, is suppose. Very illustrative as to why you should support other vendors.
*I suppose..
