  2. That vaguely reminds me of the “dynamite guns” of the 1880-1900 era: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamite_gun
    The dynamite guns on the USS Vesuvius were only 15 inches in diameter, although they were used to good effect in the Spanish-American War.
