We have a new Facebook page devoted to Maker Moms. “Like” it and share your maker mom story (on the FB page, not here), for a chance to win Maker Faire Bay Area tickets.

You know your maker mom is special. And if you are a maker, it’s likely you’ve told her how much you love her with a handmade gift. We want to hear about something you made for your mother, and what it meant to her. Like our page, and share your story for a chance to win free tickets to Maker Faire. Moms, you can win too- what is the best handmade gift you’ve ever been given?

And look for these fun new stickers premiering at the Faire!

Yeah, Maker Mom might want to get on that :-)

  3. Not to seem like a complainer but anyone else tired of FB only competitions? I have never had a social media account and probably never will, cant see even giving my name to one of those data giants let alone any other information *readjusts tinfoil hat* just a minor gripe.

In fact about the only things I do make things for people is my mother, because your mother will never tell you just how horrible your gift/idea really was :-)

Seriously, somebody get that mom a crimp tool and new Cat-5 plug!

Skip the crimp, a new cable is cheap and sadly hand crimping just isn’t as reliable as the big machine at the factory. (I’ve used one once, and yeah, it makes a difference. Not very DIY, but a marginal crimp is just suffering down the road).

Well, I sat my mom down in front of thingiverse to show her the various things I could print, and she picked a NYC manhole cover coaster. I started the print, and a few drinks later voila! She was amazed how well it came out. Dunno if it was the best gift ever, but she seemed to enjoy the process a great deal.

  6. I’m glad I’m not the only one to notice the ethernet cable first… Time to get that end fixed!
