Jack SparX was handing out electrical shocks from his Van de Graaff generator this morning when I snapped this shot. The feeling of getting a shock is strange. It’s not exactly a great sensation, but it’s not terrible either. I found it funny to watch people keep coming back for more after jumping back in surprise. He had a bunch of us stand in a line touching each other – I was on the end. When he made contact with the first person, we all jumped. It’s amazing how quickly an electrical charge travels!
Maker Faire Project Profile
This year we'll have at least two Huge Van de Graff generators, several plasma displays, small Tesla coils, Jacob's Ladders, a Hypnotron, Violet Wand, and more stuff from the Lab. We will have enough people to provide full time shocks and fun for all three days of the Faire.
