I received an email saying the next WakeMate is here, it led to a now-closed Indiegogo campaign.

So, I checked out the blog at WakeMate. It looks like they’re closing up shop, but will open source the product. WakeMate Update « Wakeblog:
Currently our plan is to keep the service going while we work on open sourcing the technology. Hopefully this will ensure that you can continue to enjoy the product and its benefits even after the company no longer exists.
I’m following the story here and here as it continues to develop.
This time it’s personal – an ex-Wakemate engineer’s perspective

This a follow up on our previous article “If You’re Going To Kill It, Open Source It!”.

For those clueless gormless hapless and feckless among us could we have a single sentence summary of what “WakeMate” is? just based on the name it sounds like something that results in shouting.
you’re right – i should have added more about it – “The WakeMate monitors your wrist motion and uses a clinically proven science called Actigraphy to translate the motion data into sleep data”. it’s a little device, many of us bought them, i wasn’t super happy with mine, but i’m glad to see they’re going to open source it if they’re not going to make them or support them.
thankee. from that, i’ll extrapolate that it’s a colbert wriststrong bracelet that purports to record how well you’re going about the business of sleeping. something i do in low-tech fashion by noting circles beneath eyes while shaving.
Phillip,
MiLife+ actually has nothing to do with WakeMate. There was a fallout in the founding team and one of the founders used mailing lists and the twitter without authorization.
