This year’s Maker Faire Detroit is over, and it’s another great example of a community coming together to share the fruits of their collective creation and hacking. It seemed like the Maker Shed was an important hub of making this year. The Learn to Solder zone and Lockpick Village were housed in the Shed and both were packed all weekend.

There’s a very small section of the Henry Ford Museum dedicated to “alternatives to cars.” I would hope some of the great Maker Faire vehicles will be considered for inclusion in the future. Of course they should be judged on their own merits and feasibility…

All of the hackerspaces in the area did a great job of holding the flank at the Faire (some came from hundreds of miles away). Hats off to LVL1 from Louiseville, HackPGH from Pittsburgh, Kwartzlab from Kitchener Ontario, High Impedance Air Gap from Lansing, i3Detroit, the Mt Elliot Makerspace, and Omnicorpdetroit for their exceptional efforts.
